Day 07- A picture of someone/something that has a big impact on you.
Meditation. I don’t talk about it a lot but it is very near and dear to me. Maybe I’ll do a post on it at some point, just not ready to share this yet, although it is completely relevant to my weight loss.
I used to meditate (and should still do so…. but my practice has lapsed) and the benefits were awesome.
I also remember being very secretive about the fact I did meditation… I didn’t want to have to defensively explain something that uninformed people would assume is new-agey/spiritualistic/mystic/plain weird.
It’s sad that meditation has this kind of defensiveness about it.
For anyone remotely interested, the kind of meditation I learnt and practised was ACEM meditation. I learnt it when I was under a great deal of pressure in my life, and I found it helped me in a lot of areas (focus, problem solving, calmness). The next time the massive amounts of pressure came, I didn’t meditate and well… the results werent pretty.
I really should start meditating again. Like exercise its one of those things which you know is good for you, know will make you feel good but… you have to make the time for it.
